Use the railway operator’s official booking service
KORAIL provides an English-language booking website for KTX and other trains. Search with your departure and arrival stations, travel date, passenger count and train preference. Availability and fares are shown for the specific service rather than being fixed for every journey.
Be wary of search results that resemble ticket platforms but charge a separate service fee. You can compare an intermediary’s conditions, but the official operator is your reference for rail services, station names and what your ticket includes.
Check that you selected the correct station
A city can have several stations, and different trains may use different stations or terminals. In Seoul, check whether you are departing from Seoul Station or another rail station; in Busan, distinguish the high-speed rail station from other local transport stops.
Choose the station based on where you are staying, not merely the city name. Add time to reach the platform, find your carriage and handle baggage, especially on your first train journey.
KTX tickets and the KORAIL PASS are not interchangeable
An ordinary point-to-point KTX ticket is not the same thing as a rail pass. KORAIL PASS is a separate product marketed for qualifying visitors, and its valid train types and seat reservation rules have conditions.
KORAIL’s official information states that its pass cannot be used on SRT or metropolitan subways. If your itinerary mixes train operators, check tickets and pass eligibility before purchasing.
Plan busy travel dates and onward connections
Train seats can sell out at high-demand times and around major holidays. Always check real inventory instead of relying on a blog saying a service runs at an exact time or will always be available.
If your journey continues by subway or bus, save both the railway station and the onward route. Check each ticket’s refund or change terms directly before confirming payment.
Transport, prices, closures and entry rules change. Verify time-sensitive details with current official information before your trip.
