Start with your hotel, not the airport transport map
Before choosing transport, find your hotel’s nearest station or airport bus stop and save its Korean address. Seoul is large: arriving quickly at Seoul Station can still leave you a long final transfer if your accommodation is elsewhere.
Your arrival terminal, baggage, travel party and actual landing time all affect the best choice. Do not treat the advertised rail journey to Seoul Station as a door-to-door travel time.
Airport railroad: useful when rail connections are easy
AREX connects Incheon Airport to Seoul Station; the all-stop service calls at intermediate stations, including the Hongik University area. The express and all-stop services are different products, so check which ticket and boarding point you need.
Rail is attractive when your accommodation is near a convenient station, you have manageable luggage and the timetable works with your flight. Remember to account for walking, ticketing and the last onward subway or taxi leg.
Airport limousine bus: compare the stop near your hotel
Airport buses can take you closer to hotels and major neighborhoods, with less luggage handling than multiple subway transfers. But a bus may take longer in road traffic, and a hotel that looks close to a stop on a map may still require a walk.
Check the official airport route finder and latest terminal-specific timetable. Do not copy an old blog’s bus number, exact fare or last departure without reconfirming.
Taxi or late-night arrival: make a backup plan
A legitimate taxi can make sense when a family shares the fare, you carry several bags or you arrive after your preferred rail or bus option ends. The price depends on the route and circumstances; use the official airport taxi information rather than promising a fixed fare.
For a late arrival, check current night transport and plan what you will do if immigration or baggage collection takes longer than expected. Know your hotel address in Korean and use an official taxi stand.
Transport, prices, closures and entry rules change. Verify time-sensitive details with current official information before your trip.
