Choose the right ticket before paying
Journey Behind the Falls on the CANADIAN Ontario side of Niagara Falls charges a published C$33 adult ticket for visitors age 13+, and C$21.50 for children age 3–12; children two and under enter free. The operator sells a timed ticket to join the queue within a one-hour arrival window or an Anytime Ticket, and also offers onsite purchases. These are not 'Maid of the Mist' or Niagara City Cruises boat tickets. Most importantly, Niagara Parks officially announced a C$25-million redevelopment beginning 2026: the attraction is OPEN DURING CONSTRUCTION, with a restored historic tunnel and weather-protected platform planned for 2027 and the lower Rainbow Platform transformation targeted for 2028. Do not book today expecting a future 2027–28 structure already open. The attraction is reached at the Table Rock Welcome Centre near Horseshoe Falls, with elevator access to the tunnels and stairs for some platform areas.

How to book and use Niagara Parks original Journey Behind the Falls admission
- Locate the CANADIAN Horseshoe Falls side
Journey Behind the Falls operates within Niagara Parks, Ontario; do not navigate to the US Maid of the Mist terminal.
- Select the actual Journey Behind the Falls product
A regular attraction ticket is for underground passages and viewing portals, NOT an actual boat on the river.
- Check current published prices
Adult 13+ C$33, child 3–12 C$21.50 and age two or less free, with final checkout taxes or fees verified.
- Choose timed or Anytime product deliberately
A timed ticket means a one-hour period during which you may enter the waiting line, not one hour alone on the platform.
- Inspect redevelopment status before travel
Niagara Parks says the attraction stays open; new covered 2027 tunnel/platform and 2028 lower viewing upgrades are future enhancements.
- Allow adequate time before scheduled closing
Niagara Parks recommends arriving at least an hour before closing, though actual operating hours change seasonally.
- Use the Table Rock complex and security checkpoint
Facility and lot map references can vary between 6635 and 6650 Niagara Parkway; follow the official map and signage.
- Inspect bag size limits
Facility restricts oversized backpacks above 56×36×23cm and inspects other bags.
- Leave strollers outside the tunnel attraction
The operator says strollers are not allowed inside the Journey Behind the Falls route.
- Check mobility needs
An elevator serves the tunnels and accessible parts; the lower deck requires stairs and may not suit all visitors.
- Budget separate parking and transport
Falls Parking Lot A may be closest, but is separately paid and shared with busy Niagara attractions.
- Compare independently with boat tours
Boat excursions offer a different perspective and seasonal operation; not included in the ordinary C$33 ticket.
Purchasing guidance, not real-time availability or admission guarantee. The actual provider's product-specific instructions take priority.
Do not assume a payment receipt alone is admission. The provider may separately issue QR tickets, wristbands, redemption vouchers or a mandatory visit-day reservation.

A tunnel attraction behind the waterfall is not a boat tour
Journey Behind the Falls lets visitors descend through passages behind Horseshoe Falls and view the flow from observation portals and outdoor decks. The name confuses people who have only seen boat pictures from Niagara City Cruises or the US-side Maid of the Mist, but it is a different experience.
The Canadian attraction lies within Niagara Parks' Table Rock visitor precinct. Each named boat trip has its own dock, admission price, seasonal closure, weather policy and operator. Paying C$33 for a Journey ticket does not put you aboard a vessel or across the international border.
Why the current official 2026 price can differ from old passes
The operator's direct attraction page currently displays C$33 for visitors thirteen and older and C$21.50 for children aged three through twelve, with children two and under free. Older Niagara Parks presale promotional pages can still show earlier C$28 or C$18.50 reference rates, so those pages must not supersede the active attraction's tariff.
There may also be HST, service charges or bundled discounts in actual checkout. Travellers should compare the identical Journey Behind the Falls single admission product rather than presenting a different multi-attraction 'Niagara Falls Pass' as the same ticket.
Timed versus Anytime: what actually changes
Niagara Parks explains a timed e-ticket reserves an hour-long window in which a visitor can JOIN the queue. This is not a guarantee that the lift departs exactly at the printed minute, especially at busy summer peaks or maintenance periods.
The official shop also offers Anytime tickets as an option for people who cannot predict their arrival precisely. Those tickets have their own redemption terms. If traveling with children or a road trip across the region, read the actual ticket restrictions before paying a reseller who labels every product 'skip the line'.
2026 construction does not mean the attraction is shut
In its September 21, 2026 redevelopment announcement, Niagara Parks confirmed investment of C$25 million to restore a historic tunnel and improve year-round viewing. The official attraction remains OPEN while construction work is carried out. The restored-tunnel platform is scheduled for 2027, and upgraded Rainbow Platform for 2028.
This timing is vital: a visitor arriving October 2026 should not expect a freshly heated platform shown in a future design rendering to be available. Some routes, sightlines, temporary barriers or schedules could change as work progresses, even while the operator keeps admission running.
Access, strollers and the nearest visitor centre
The Niagara Parks FAQ says an elevator leads down to the broad illuminated tunnels, portals and upper deck, while stairs access the lower observation deck. It expressly disallows strollers inside. Guests with limited mobility should confirm which observation sections and lift facilities are open during rebuilding.
It lists the Table Rock Welcome Centre vicinity with address references around 6635 and 6650 Niagara Parkway, and directs drivers toward Falls Parking Lot A. A claimed 'Niagara Falls boat ticket office' address may send you to a different attraction altogether.
Designing a truthful afternoon at Horseshoe Falls
A visitor can view much of the Canadian waterfall landscape along publicly accessible Niagara Parkway viewpoints without a paid tunnel ticket. Journey admission buys the underground and behind-water perspective, not ordinary sidewalk access, hotel parking, boat seats or bus transportation.
Time should be allowed for queues, bag checks and real seasonal closing hours, especially during peak weekends. The official attraction page says to arrive at least an hour before closing. This guide uses Niagara Parks' 2026 redevelopment statement and current operator price page, not personal attendance or invented conversion data.
